Monticello Red Wheel in Monticello

I have eaten breakfast, and dinner at this restaurant for last 2 days while in town and the service and food, especially the Fred Flintstone portion of Prime Rib was beyond excellent. I will definitely eat here again and recommend others to do the same

Big menu selection, big food portions

We randomly saw a sign for the train museum and once we were done there we decided to eat. The Red Wheel was awesome! Delicious food prepared fast, friendly service and a very clean establishment. I would definitely stop here again if we are in the area! My husband had the beer battered fish, I had the red wheel burger and my cousin had the spaghetti. All were great choices and highly recommend!!

The staff is great and very attentive. The restaurant is very clean and the food is delicious. I would highly recommend the Monticello Red Wheel for breakfast, lunch or dinner. My favorite is the all you can eat fried chicken and the Friday Walleye or Shrimp. You can beat the food or the prices.

It USED to be a decent place to eat 10 yrs ago... Has gradually gone way down hill. My brother and I stopped for lunch on 2/6/2020 and both of us got violently sick with diarrhea and had upset stomach for several days. Never eat there again.Only give it one star cause there is no lower score.

Easy location just off the interstate. Good menu choices. Friendly service.

Really nice family-style restaurant. Has an extensive menu, and both the quality of food as well as the portion are really worth the price. Waiting staff is also friendly. I would highly recommend coming here before or after the town's famous polar Express festivities, as the crowd is not too bad, and the food is delicious.

HORRIBLE!!! I order a chicken quesadilla and the chicken was still pink, already had to send back our drinks, lemonade was so bad my 2 year old wouldn't even drink it, the water tasted like straight bleach water!! My mothers deli sandwich smelled rotten!! The hotdogs was so tough couldnt cut it with a knife, waitress was rude when I asked to take food off the bill and still proceeded to bill us for full price, DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

Terrible food quality. I always try to give them aanother chance and instantly regret it every time. My pancakes were burnt and my bacon tasted god awful. Last time I went there I had a blt and the tomatoes were going bad. I've also watched kitchen staff take the trash out and smoke with their aprons still on which is absolutely disgusting.

Mother's day brunch was great. Plenty of room and plenty to eat. Staff was very courteous and efficient. All in all a very good eating experience

Worst service ever! When the waitress finally came to our table to take our order, she didn't know what the pasta combo on their special's menu was and wanted to argue. She didn't know what soft drinks they had. She slammed our drinks and plates down when they finally did come. My husband and I were in awe at how awful it all was! We'd heard good things but won't be back. We'll be passing our experience on to our family and friends.

Food was very tasty and good portions. Service was excellent. Menu is extensive. Pri es are appropriate. We will definitely come back!

We were afraid.there.wasnt wnuff.help, our food.areived.fresh and tasty-and we had a variety of.foods to choose.from... if.you ever get the chance, try this down home place for a good.meal in.a.nice environment and good.sized.portions at real good prices !!

Came here for breakfast with friends and the staff was very friendly!! Our server gave us five star service. The breakfast we all had was fulfilling, we were all able to share food plus have some to take home. Would recommend, have not tried the lunch menu or dinner , but the menu has a variety of options to choose from.

You will die if you eat this food... The food has to be the cheapest they could buy. Everything is frozen noting fresh.. Save your money and buy a cheap tv dinner.. You will not be going to the ER and its cheaper..

We had been there for breakfast a few times, can't say they were 5 star , but ok for the most part. Stopped for lunch on a Saturday, parking lot was empty. Waitress got my sandwich order wrong, or else the kitchen did I said that was ok, I would keep it. But upon tasting it, it was obvious to both my husband and I that the turkey was very close to rotten. Informed the waitress that the meat was bad, left the rest on the plate. She actually asked me if I wanted her to take it off my bill! I gave 2 stars instead of 1, as my husband's chicken strips were ok. Probably won't be back

Nice selection of food.My friend was completely satisfied with the pork tenderloin,mashed potatoes and whole plate oozing with white gravy. My philly cheese steak was tasty but I did not appreciate the gristle,fat,and occasional tough to cut beef.French fries were excellent. Soup was tasty! Staff was very friendly.

I have never had a good experience here. Thought I would give it one more shot. The breakfast was less than desirable. The bacon was old and fried to a crisp. Asked for sausage to replace bacon. Not a lot better. Hashbrowns were fried to a crisp as well. Bisquits and gravy were good..server never once refilled my water glass or asked how we were doing. My husband and I both had stomach issues rest of day.Talked to some other customers in parking lot, who had brought up their dissatisfaction first. Oatmeal cold, had to send back food, etc.What's wrong with having a nice, family restaurant in Monticello?This is a well kept place. Can they not get a good cook and attentive servers?Will never go back and will never reccomend this restaurant to any one.

Hit or miss on food quality. Waiting staff is amazing and work super hard to make customers happy.

The food was good and the service was vey nice and personal.

Horrible. Smelled like a urinal cake. Tea was rotten. Waitresses seemed bothered we were there. I ordered beef n noodles. Meat was tough. Worse than can gravy. And part of the metal scrub pad they use to clean grill with was in the middle of noodles. Date had a horseshoe . It was the worst he has ever had. They did remove my plate from bill. Do not go here!

I went to the red wheel in Monticello Illinois my dad ordered a deli meat sandwich in the meet was rotten and I got a cheeseburger and it was disgusting when I was done with my cheeseburger I ordered a milkshake it took about 15 minutes to make in it wasn’t even cold. There were three other tables with people there and all of them had something wrong with their food there was nothing wrong with the waitresses did the best that they could but the food was not good when I got home I poured out the milkshake there were chunks in it.honestly I felt sick after drinking it

Do you like fish? Red Wheel AYCE walleye is the BEST around! Lightly beaded with a flavorful seasoning. Everything tasty and large portions. Staff very friendly.

This place is a little hidden but right in front of you. Great little restaurant. Service was Great. And if you like Ribeye steak sandwich's the size of the cut of meat is big and thick. Highly recommended!!!
